You can disable SIP very easily.

I understand how some folks feel about that, it just hasn’t been a problem for me.

Linux is the objectively best choice for a significant number of use-cases at the moment (not all of them). Using Linux and communicating that doesn't necessarily make you a "Linux guy." Obviously, using Linux when a better solution exists for whatever you're trying to solve equally applies. While it may not be unhealthy, it certainly isn't a good idea.

"I'm a guy using Linux" - Ok. "I'm a Linux guy" - Bad.

This is very much an imprecise abstraction, more like a rule of thumb. Just be careful how you think of yourself.

"I ride bicycles" - Fine. "I'm a cyclist" - Getting weird.

"I voted for X" - Ok. "I'm team X" - Dangerous.

Yes I hate gnome. I tried to use it but I needed too many plugins to make it work the way I need. I'm not the kind of person who adapts to software, software must adapt to me. But the developers of gnome love it and they make the best thing they want to have.

I hate their opinionated design and I love settings so I use KDE. I love that. That's the good thing about Linux. Everyone can use it as they like. Unfortunately there seems to be some pressure to unify things to make it more for "the masses" but I will not play along with that for sure.

At no point did I suggest that you build your own OS. To extend my tortured analogy, that would be like suggesting you grow your own spouse.

I disagree - with a spouse I have the option of just not having one.

I don't get your reasoning. It's in fact very mature, everyone got their job to do and you don't mess with someone else job. If you have to make spreadsheet on a windows computer, it's not up to you to check why excel won't open. You're not trained to do IT. You might do more harm than good. That's how it works in mature work environment.

"choke on it, boss" when they're expected to use the approved OS and software doesn't sound very mature to me.

The wording is bad, agree. But the reasoning is mature, everyone their own job.
