Man I still haven't even left Mojave for Catalina. I don't think I'm gonna be changing OSs until I buy a second or third generation ARM Air that comes with whatever they're calling the 2022 Mac OS.
Same but instead of Air I’ll get the 13” ARM Pro with sufficient RAM and hopefully more ports. Mojave on my 13” MBP 2015 is still fantastic. Great OS, great keyboard, USB ports, MagSafe, etc.

> Just lost a few hundred Tabs from last session This is horrifying! How do you get to have one hundred tabs, or worse, a few hundred ?
How do you not get there? There’s no point in the “core gameplay loop” of browsing the web where you are encouraged to close a tab. They just disappear among the other ones and you don’t really have a reason to stop and think about whether you’re done with them. At some point there are hundreds.

#273PSA: Big Sur forgets where apps' windows are when plugging back into an external display https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/651131?answerId=64... https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/jt0gjk/big_sur_forge... I've been on the public beta of Big Sur for months (and issued Feedback Assistant bug reports on this). As of 11.0.1, there's still a dealbreaker bug for people who use external monitors. If you unplug a…

Windows and Office have existed in ARM versions since 2011: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_RT Windows 10: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/ Windows IoT Core for Raspberry Pi: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=550... Not to say they'll run on Apple Silicon, mind, but it's not like Windows is x86/AMD64 only.
But as of now Microsoft only licenses Windows 10 for ARM to OEMs, so as an end-user it's not possible to have a legal copy running in a VM.
That's pretty much targeted towards end users, albeit those in the Windows Insider Program for now.

#275Just want to put here that if you're using a Mac and haven't tried Safari recently, you're missing out. A few things: - Battery life is fantastic compared to Chrome/FF - Privacy seems to be top-notch - The tab ordering situation is now chrome-like (my biggest gripe in older versions of safari) - Experimental features are 1 click away, easily enable/disable WebGL2 - Support for the WebExtensions standard means addons…
A few things that kept me from using Safari full time (instead of Chrome) last time I tried it: - On my 15" Macbook Pro (mid 2014), when you speed up videos in Safari the sound is distorted and weird, while in Chrome it sounds properly sped up. I use this a lot when watching educational videos. - Youtube videos max out at 1080p. - While there are decent ad blocking extensions, they're not as good as uBlock Origin. -…
I use a simple hack to make opening mpv easy: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24509028, but IIUC there are browser extensions that make it completely automatic.

Every since the last few betas of Big Sur, I can't play Youtube videos in Safari anymore. It always gives a playback error. They all work fine if I copy the URL and load it in Chrome. Is this just me or anyone else?
No, not just you, I’ve had the same problem, and I have youtube premium. Though it’s not consistent, sometimes it works, which makes me think that it might be related to some choice of the content creator.

I recall reading something from an Apple engineer about fixing something before enabling WebGL 2.0 by default. But it's only a click away: Develop > Experimental Features > WebGL 2.0
The problem persists when wanting to deploy something using webgl2, since the vast majority of Safari users will not have changed the default.
Also, it’s more than one touch away on iPhone. And I’m not sure you can force it in a web view.

My personal rule is to never install a new version of macOS until it hits the first point version, so 10.16.1 in this case, that usually resolves the very worst bugs it ships with.
It's 11.0, and the initial release is actually 11.0.1, so there's that!
