Web apps like twitter youtube discord that is left open for a few hours take up >2gb ram and is jittery. I have to shift+esc and close them to make them run smoothly again. Why hasn't stuff like this been fixed yet?

There are a lot of good community forks of Chromium also. And no, a fork of Chromium isn’t “the same as Chrome”.

Sure, but Firefox doesn’t have to be Chrome to be unacceptable, and Chrome isn’t the only alternative. I reject the idea that Firefox can transgress as much as they want as long as Chrome has gotten worse. And fuck then for buying and killing fakespot.
Chrome is the only alternative unless you have access to Safari. Brave, Opera, Edge, etc are all Chromium and will all deprecate Manifest V2 eventually. The V2 mess is just one example of how Google can continue to stangle the web even if you're not using Chrome itself.
No sorry, I give Firefox a try about once a year and every time so far I have switched back because some random websites were unusable. Maybe it works if you are de-googling your life at the same time and consciously choose to use apps over websites whenever possible.
What websites? I've been using Firefox exclusively forever and the only times I've had to switch browsers was doing my passport application and I had to find a windows desktop to get that to work

Alternatively they have to live purely from donations, which means that people like you and I have to part with of our money. I am under the impression that Firefox is the only web browser which has access to quality ad blocker. Am I incorrect in this? How is this not enough of a selling point for everyone to switch to it?
uBlock Origin (non-lite) only works on Firefox as far as I know. Brave purportedly has a built-in ad blocker that uses the same lists, but I can't vouch for it personally.
Their built-in adblock is quite good but still not nearly as sophisticated as uBO which intelligently intercepts and modifies requests from advertisers to stop tracking. uBO is much more than an adblock tbh

Only? No. Best? Yes, it's not even close. I got the Chrome extension that adds the "Open in Firefox" option to the hyperlink right-click menu. That's how I view all YouTube videos. I'd switch completely to Firefox except for all my data being on Google. It's clear that eventually I will switch to Firefox completely. Google is pure evil.
I hate to change the subject to something so trivial -- because I have been an exclusive Firefox user for many, many years -- but the awful moving background of this website is literally nauseating. I'm no designer, but I can't understand why someone would make a graphical choice like this. It absolutely detracts from the content, and in my case, will prevent me from reading it.
