Yes, fining and breaking up companies that spend billions on R&D is a great way to encourage innovation.
This is the same argument that giving money to rich people makes the poor wealthier. There’s no evidence of more innovation in larger companies and in fact very often rent seeking causes these big bloated companies to not take risks or generate new opportunities.

Yeah, I mean I'm sure there's a complicated story here... but when the market isn't producing some consumer good, I think it's a good idea to check whether there's some root cause we can fix. Not just throw yet another hack on top of the chaos.
Make pharmaceutical companies work against each other: Have them check their competition and advertise their competitors' malpractice. Having some faceless government bureaucracy delay that process for decades, just hides the truth from the people who need it most.

This "article" has one paragraph dedicated to actually explaining why drugs are expensive, and it says it's because of patents. It also tries to blur between patents and exclusivity. Exclusivity is usually 3 years (5 for new antibiotics and new chemical entities). Patents are 20. Exclusivity is a very small portion of intellectual property protection. I would call that dishonest. The FDA does not control drug patents…

That's basically a 4.4x increase, after inflation to jump from short to rapid. Not saying its justified. Why pay $200 list for something that is less than $80.

You can even get 25G from EPB now, though the 10G is good enough for me, frankly. That being said, there's several locations in the US where 10G residential fiber is broadly available; frequently either municipal or co-op (e.g. Utopia Fiber in Utah), though I believe EPB was first in 2015.
