That's interesting. Can you elaborate on what this "anti-obesity" forum was like? How was it different from a hate group?

Well, it was named "fatpeoplehate", which is a tiny little bit of a giveaway. Funny the original poster forgot to mention that detail, I wonder why.

I like the idea of Freenet, but I'm having trouble installing it on MacOS. Can anyone point me where to go next?

- I downloaded the MacOS installer pkg, which installed the FreenetTray application

- When I start the FreenetTray, it says Freenet not installed. So I click install

- The installer says Java not installed, so it tries to download Java

- Then I get stuck here: https://i.imgur.com/Vu6OCek.png

I'm not sure what to do. Not complaining! Should I try to install Java manually somehow?

Really cool project.

No. The data being stored as proof of work cannot be useful, otherwise it's not "work".

It works because every user can choose their own moderators: You choose on your own whom to trust to filter out the disruptive stuff. And it’s optimized so you have much less work for that than on the clearnet. On Freenet Spam- and Disruption-prevention actually scales better than spamming.

Ah I see. So the content will still be there as long as people store/access it, but you can filter it out by subscribing to filter-lists? Got it, thanks.

Can you also filter out certain content (by means of hashes I suppose) that you don't want to personally host (not even as partial chunks) but allow everything else?

Sure! But what's the proper way to install Java manually on MacOS? (Sorry, it's 1:40am, otherwise I'd be a bit more "try to figure out how to do this" and less "please link me to something to run.")
