It is embarrassing, because it means they’re afraid of competition. If CC was so great, at least a fraction of they sell it, they wouldn’t need to do it.

Why act like it’s a mystery when the Claude Code repo clearly explains:

They subsidize Claude Code because it gives them your codebase and chat history

It's hard to understand what Anthropic are getting from forcing more people to use Claude Code vs any other tools via the API. Why do they care? Do they somehow get better analytics or do they dream that there's a magical lock-in effect... from a buggy CLI?

Not true, most tools are deterministic. For instance my programming language LSP just works 100% of the time with no failure. It doesn’t hallucinate any types, methods or variables.

Your LSP also can’t do complex reasoning across the purpose of your whole codebase.

who said they are unable to work? This meme is so old and overused.

They laugh about LLMs hallucinating, but themselves hallucinate the facts that don’t exist all the time.
