I still use (K)Ubuntu desktop, but for servers I feel Centos Stream 9 is best choice for a homelab at the moment. Debian is also good. Kubuntu is awesome! Using an LTS version which provides a solid base and then using the kubuntu-backports PPA to get the latest KDE Plasma stuff works great in my experience.
