https://altstore.io/ is the best known. Google "alternative app stores for ios", there are many. (Not an endorsement; Have not used any of them myself).

Ah yes I remember AltStore when it came out. Left it on my phone for a while but all that was ever published was his emulator(which kept crashing btw). I wonder if the store has improved since.

I had one of those TVs. The ads show up in the menu bar. I called them and told them I paid over a thousand dollars for this TV and do not want ads. They said they'd be happy to help me disable my internet connection. I was so dumbfounded at the petty response that I simply hung up. Lost a customer for life. I will never again buy a Samsung product.

When I first started seeing those ads on my wife's TV, I thought I'd block the telemetry servers with my router. She happens to be using a free AT&T router, turns out it does not have an option to block hosts like a regular router.

There's reports of some models connecting to any open wifi networks, which would include your neighbours. And it's only a matter of time until they come with built-in sim cards

I think you just nailed why many companies are overly excited about 5G.

Users of TVs, wow. I remember when they were not more difficult to use than a door bell. I'm always more convinced that I'll end up with a monitor, a Raspberry, a stereo speaker and possibly a DVBT decoder.

Do you know of a place to get an OLED (or better) 60inch 4k monitor that's a reasonable price?

To be fair, I never thought about that: my current TV is 1080p 32 inches and I'm looking at it from a couple of meters. I wouldn't know where to place something twice as wide as that. Anyway, it's still OK and I hope I don't need a new one soon but I'll check the prices. Thanks.

What do you buy instead? I don't imagine it's easy to find a recent, high-quality TV without "smart" features.

A few years ago, I looked into getting a digital signage display instead, but they were pretty expensive.

Hopefully you've found the instructions to remove bixby via adb. It works, side effect free and has survived multiple firmware updates so far.
