Going forward, I suspect one of the main employment opportunities left for humans in the AI era is "scapegoat". Corporations don't want to take any responsibility for anything. AI can't be responsible. So there's a market opportunity for a person who is willing to take a job where their main value-add is to receive the blame when something goes sideways.

What a sad dystopia we are creating.

I know lots of people who voluntarily use AI regularly without being forced to - a lot more than either people who are anti-AI or people who are forced to use it for work.

That's probably a function of the people I'm around more than anything else. It is also the case that AI is being pushed on people, sometimes forcefully. But the category of people who use it because they want to is very large.

For skeptics, just months ago in the midst of the AI hype it was common to ask if AIs were simply copying the input apps they were trained on, and would regurgitate them.

I find this plausible. I'd like to see the prompt and chat transcript.

Bane gives multiple examples in this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9345312 . I mostly ignore Gruber's slop, but I have seen cases where he got technical details of Android multitasking wrong, which is nuts because it is both well documented and open source.

How do you remember comments from over a decade ago?

A good way to accomplish this is to ask the AI to give you some good names for the project. It tends to regurgitate those, and a quick search of existing apps will flush it out.

Search. I don't actually remember that particular comment, but I know I've seen such comments before.
