The code isn’t the valuable part. They know all the most common workflows and failure modes, allowing them to create better environments for training agentic models
They can't build a foundation model with that.

Different file names is easy analytics (ex: 'how many OSS projects use gemini.md and claude.md' is a mere search query).

It’s a marketing strategy that works here and now, but “never” is a very long time. What could be seen as pioneers claiming names today could be also seen as retrogressive stubbornness tomorrow and lose its marketing value.
There's a reason we still call the file robots.txt by that name, and not web-scraping.txt or search-engines.txt.

Why is Claude Code better than Cursor?
My company has a huge codebase, for me cursor would freeze up / not find relevant files. Claude code seems able to find the right files by itself. I seem to always have better outcomes with Claude code.
How does Claude Code handle editing multiple files? My understanding is that it's CLI based, so it edits a bunch of files on it's own, so how do you accept/reject and rollback changes?

I find the Codex CLI to be the worst of the CLI tools I’ve used (including, but not limited to, Claude Code, Gemini, Aider). There’s something about it that makes it clunky. Haven’t tried Cursor CLI yet though.

codex login does not seem to work with ChatGPT Plus.

Hmm, I just upgraded my local codex-cli to 0.19.0 and had to smoke the ~/.codex directory before I could again try to login. Once past that, everything worked fine (so far at least), and managed to get it to connect to my ChatGPT Pro account.
