Totally like this idea ... very clever, and I've never seen anything like it before. Concur with some previous comments that price page needs attention. Sounds cliche, but go back and look at some of the older 37signals.com/svn posts on making purchase process easy/intuitive/good design. Also, can confirm that page is dorked somewhat in IE8 ... pretty sure it's not the look that you were after! Let me know if you nee…

If only Microsoft would provide a version of IE8 that would run on Ubuntu, I could test it... :) That's no excuse though. I'm definitely going to find an internet cafe and do some more testing. Thanks for the reminder.

Adobe Browser Lab is nice too: https://browserlab.adobe.com/en-us/index.html?sdid=EWRQK&#38...

Different plants? As to the climates - if you cover California, Arizona, Alaska, Nevada, Ohio, Maine then I would assume you would have most of the worlds climate types covered. If I was running it - I would do exactly what you suggest though.. Make this awesome for the places you have data. (But if you have a tool that says my climate is the same as zipcode XXXXX (just 6 months out) - then I'd love the australian ve…

If someone knows of a place where I can get good worldwide weather data-sets, this would be a very interesting project for me to try.. I don't think it would be hard (given good quality sets) to match the US zip-code data to other places. It sounds like a very fun logic problem.

I am not the OP, but that is an amazing idea. I remember those baby emails, and can just imagine screenshots of baby kale and turnips. Op, you really should do this. It would be amazing.

I guess one limitation is that gardens probably mature at slightly different rates (e.g. if you have a mild cold spell, development goes on 'hold' for a bit, which might put you out of sync). I guess Eric would have to interview some expert gardeners to ascertain the scope of the issue.

Gardeners are ferocious, ferocious competitors. They are compelled to post pictures of their plants. Believe me; squeezing as much out of your plot as you can can become an obsession.

All that to say, bragging / help requests are going to be strong motivations for gardeners in the US, and I'm sure they'll be posting information if the OP wants to make a community out of the site.

To see the next screen you could use the Whitehouse's Zip code: 20500

Since I grew up in the 80s and 90s I've always enjoyed using 90210 -- ahh for the days of bad hair and even worse acting! ;) This looks like an awesome idea. I would absolutely be interested if I was in the US! (no chance of it coming to Belgium, is there, huh? :( )

haha not just me using 90210. Think I've been entering that as my zip code for US offers for a very long time :)

I guess you could do something with lat, long from GeoKit (on Rails) to avoid asking for zip code specifically.
