I'm german and as you just read in the article, Rheinmentall is a german company. And from whom do i depend on US defense? Against Russia? Who can barely make it in Ukraine? Middle east were everyone is fighting everyone and were Iran is very very pissed at the USA? Tell me what defense do i need against whom?

You don't think nuclear deterrence has a place in a modern defense strategy? If not, then I don't see the point in discussing this further.

Well, the nuclear deterrence was how effective in RU vs UA and US/IL vs IR?

The US decision to enter the war was independent of (and I think before?) the extermination camps, purely decided by Germany declaring war on the US. The practice of interning a large number of people in camps without access to legal process .. well, which side of the Atlantic has more of that at the moment?

EU has even larger migrant camps, mainly on the eastern side like in Greece. They're not citizens, so they don't get the same legal rights. The rest were pushed away at gunpoint. US has been accepting far more migrants, both legal and illegal, than the EU. There are 14M illegal immigrants steadily living in the US, imagine that over there. The difference is nobody holds the EU to US standards, cause that would be "punching down," but I don't mind doing it.

Just like when the US cuts research funding, people get mad and say the EU should take those researchers, but turns out the EU won't pay them either. So I don't care what EU citizens say about American issues, actions speak louder than words.

You don't need a military alliance to have trade.

The current US isolationism isn't restricted to military matters, it also affects trade (see all the disastrous tradewars that had been started by the US in recent months).

Yeah but that's not what the comment was about

Iran isn't a problem for the US, it's a problem for Israel. They're a third-world country on the other side of the world. And their govt is severely corrupt and oppressive, but that's their problem, which we aren't even trying to fix with this war.

It almost makes you wonder how they got that government doesn’t it? If America stopped messing with far-away countries, it might get something more palatable.

We know the US and UK propped up shah Pahlavi after forcing his father Reza to cede the throne to him in WW2, and it's likely they also turned against him when he started going his own way in the 70s. If so, that move was to Israel's benefit, not ours.

Still, dunno what would've happened otherwise. There's a solid chance Iran would still be the same kind of mess because of tensions with Islamists, which was the theme of the Qajar vs Pahlavi internal conflict. US can't make revolutions happen out of nowhere.

It works just fine or is USA not having a war right now, arming like crazy and want to fight for lebensraum with China, while also having meager real economy output? I guess you should learn more about history ;)

"meager real economy output" what What's the comparison, US is at war so it's like WW2 Germany? Hasn't it been this way since the 1960s?

All the "growth" is propelled by AI and Finances. USA is very similar to UK and will end up same.

Russia would conquer Eastern Europe and reestablish Eastern Block and USSR if they would not be stuck in Ukraine. It is not even a secret, Putin himself stated those goals. He does not want some part of Donbas of whatever, he wants WHOLE Ukraine all the way to Uzhghorod. https://moderndiplomacy.eu/2025/12/21/us-intelligence-putin-...

> Russia would conquer Eastern Europe and reestablish Eastern Block and USSR This is BS regurgitated by people that can't let go of the cold war, because their self-importance is tied to the era. Anyone with half-brain can see that USSR had the various CPs as means of establishing and maintaining control over other countries. Russia does not have any equivalent apparatus. Relying on military power alone, they can't r…

> This is BS regurgitated by people that can't let go of the cold war

No this is actual reality and Russia has stated that it want to renew USSR. Or why do you think they would want NATO to move behind 1997 borders? Yep whole former Eastern block is there.

Ukraine was supposed to be 1968 Czechoslovakia not 10x Afghanistan. If conquest of Ukraine would go well, next would be Moldavia, then Baltic states. All used to be part of USSR.

To me it is really funny that people like you exists. Putting flaps on your eyes and refusing to see that an aggressive empire is actively conquering its neighbours like it is 1850 again.

Profit is profit, and supposedly there's been a tech bubble since 2008. I thought US was supposed to be similar to 1920s Germany here.

Like I said, if you think you don't need nuclear deterrance, there is no point in discussing this further.

Also funny how you give 2 examples of nuclear powers who attack countries with no nuclear deterrence.

The US are also supporting some rather dubious actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

This is a valid criticism. We're not only enabling war crimes but also going totally against our own interests.

UK and EU are supporting it too, but not nearly as much as the US. And UK more than EU.

Oh and neither one is comparable to actual internment camps because people are free to leave back into their own countries.
