The most important realization about FOSDEM is really: There's no way you can fully experience it or do it optimal. It's really about making sure you get value out of it, listen to some interesting talks and meet some people.

I've met an exceedingly small number of people who state the worldview outright, but I've met a much larger number of people whose actions are only consistent with that internal worldview.

It's kinda weird to present this as a DBus alternative when it doesn't even offer the same facilities, particularly many-to-many communication. Though I have a pretty good idea of where a Varlink broker would turn up and which init system it would be tied to.

Very typical systemd–developer style.

Those are pathname UNIX domain sockets, so you address them through the socket file, which is conventionally stored somewhere under /run.

You can run "netstat --listening --unix" to list the UNIX domain servers on your system, to get an impression.

There were at CCC in 2005, too, now it's all allocated to assembly groups.

Registering an assembly is trivial, but yea you definitely want to associate with one just so you don't have to carry your bag around all day.

That is thus all solely your interpretation. I think it is very dangerous to make assumptions about people's internal worldview and judging people on that assumption. In fact I think you have just expressed quite well what I object against, precisely.
