Is it 40% failure per individual back/forth or 40% failure per individual letter output? I guess it really just depends how much one wants to bash AI instead of actually talk about failure rate not normally being what makes using a tool worthwhile :D. I'm not big on AI for much more than additional "Google search" type usage myself so it's interesting to see how polarized folks are that LLMs either have to be the gre…

I suspect many of those saying it is great, have a vested interest in it being so. It's always this way each hype cycle.

AI has its uses, but repeatable output and accuracy aren't one of them.

To clear up potential confusion, you seem to be talking about the Gemini app (https://gemini.google.com), the chat app formerly known as Bard.

The article is about AI Overviews, a feature of Google Search (the LLM-generated box that sometimes shows up above the search results).

They're powered by the same pretrained model but, in true Google style, are two otherwise unrelated products built by two completely separate orgs.

Then there's AI Mode (https://www.google.com/ai), NotebookLM and probably some others I'm forgetting right now. :)

Every other source for information, including (or maybe especially) human experts can also make mistakes or hallucinate. The reason ppl go to LLMs for medical advice is because real doctors actually fuck up each and everyday.
