FunFact: I used to help out with HN when I worked at YC.

Looking to go fulltime somewhere that my experience can be useful. Recently I've been doing some infrastructure work for AI companies that are building out compute resources, security/network auditing and automation. I would be open to doing more long-term contracting for the right company but ultimately I'd like to be in-house.

I am US citizen returning to US by the end of the year. I have worked the past 8 years the country of Vanuatu as a solo-software engineer while I waited for my wife to obtain her US visa and then covid kept us in Vanuatu longer than expected. I've built a variety of systems from a Netflix clone for a local ISP including in-house transcoding pipelines (internet too expensive/bandwidth too limited for customers to access real Netflix), a linear TV channel for a local TV broadcaster with automatic playlist building/solving, a booking system for international tourism to Vanuatu, a Foursquare-esque PWA for local businesses, a license plate detection and collection app, a logistics and assets management system for local freight company and many other web scrapers and other projects for fun.

As a result, I've had a well rounded background of experience, worked with a lot of on-premise hardware, various technologies and was responsible for everything top to bottom which means to say finding clients, investigating requirements, design and implementation and deployment was on me.

I'm hoping to find a rewarding and challenging project to work on in the States and to join a team of like minded software engineers. I also like kava.

I'm currently interning as a Junior React Dev so I don't have too much time for a job, but if there's a job that I can do on weekends I'd love to get some extra experience in React and work with a passionate team. I'm obv still junior but I know how to find information and when to admit that I'm stuck. Little about me: I'm a friendly guy who loves Seinfeld, The Office (UK) and techno! :-)
