Maybe i'm going too far, but i interpreted this for point #2 from an earlier statement a few lines up:
"The market needs to be fulfilled and the market will be fulfilled, by the first viable product that comes along"
ie: In this case the market wins, but not necessarily by getting what it needs from that 'lousy' team
