The trouble is the secession would have to be cities versus rural areas in the United States. There's no good State map

i think if you allowed states to secede, you'd see the rural and urban issue balance out it's been ongoing for the last fourty years anyway

States are heavily subsidized by the federal government - I believe California pays in way more than it gets. You're going to have all the GDP walk away and be left with a ton of sorry states. It's entirely unfeasible.

Cute. Seriously though, it'd be cheaper to fund (or crowdfund) a super PAC to send out lobbyists to conduct political interference and gerrymandering in the desired direction. Giving out 1 kg gold bars apparently isn't socially-acceptable but lobbyists and "support" are okay.
