I bet most people who don't frequent tumblr/reddit et al don't have the slightest idea of what "vore" is. The internet is pretty large, and humans are pretty clueless on average.

Until they search for "Vore feeder" and arrive at very unexpected results. The welcome of those results may vary from person to person, though.

The most common meaning being to eat or consume?

In an... isolated context, considering the purpose is to consume feeds, "vore" could have felt appropriate, especially if cursory research was limited to the dictionary...

They totally know. It's an application for consuming feeds called vore.

There's no way it isn't intentional. Many FOSS developers love dirty names.

Well. Somehow (or for some reason), GIMP managed to get away with it. Though, the next crudest software name which comes to mind is "Git".

Many folks in the community are uncomfortable with the name and have asked the project to change it, to no avail.
