I met my fiancé unintentionally on LinkedIn. She reached out as recruiter to try and get in touch with HR at my company and we both had gone to the same university at the same time. She also included a link to her music in case I was interested. I responded saying I had no idea how to help her as a software engineer but that I was surprised we hadn’t crossed paths. I said that I too was a musician and shared a link t…

Glad to hear your story.

I'm on the same boat nowadays :)

This site isn't specific to LinkedIn. You can fill it out with anything apparently, even triggering an SSL certificate error if you try to politely warn people on this very site that you are not currently interested in a nerdy, yet romantic relationship: https://hacker.news.reader.idont.date/on.Hacker.News

That's because I'm not allowed to have a generic certificate for ..domain :( (author here). I'm also a C++ programmer for a living, and this was originally just a home project for trying to self-learn how publishing pages work.

HN ate my asterisks. I meant I can only have a certificate for [anything].idont.date, but not for more subdomain levels.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

It wasn't built specifically for LinkedIn, it fills in the text from the URL: https://idont.date/people.who.indent.with.spaces

That's good to know! I guess I didn't scroll down far enough to see the form. But still, the thought of being propositioned on LinkedIn makes me shudder in discomfort.

I feel the same way about recruiters.

I like to think that she didn't go to your university, only added her music after reading your profile, and is currently playing the long game - what better way to network with your colleagues, than a wedding?

(or congratulations)
