So basically it is the problem with CFG (exploit protection) which is not ready for the cases when there are many allocations and freeing of excutable memory blocks.

Yes

Maybe it is better to disable CFG then. Because now it makes a memory leak.

Every other paragraph the ad box tries to run a full screen video with unmuted audio by default. I got headache some half way thru article and then gave up reading. From authors work, it doesnt seem this particular blogger needs my two cents from ads he runs to live a decent life. Its sad how the state of internet looks like these days ;(

If you hate ads, and you hate the state of the internet, run adblock. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpa... Seriously. Adblock is the way you have to fight back, to change the economics of the internet. Install it, use it indiscriminately, and make sure you tell others to use it. My company makes a decent chunk of money from ads btw. Not because we can't make money another, better and cleane…

That's not an option for mobile though..

It is for Samsung and iOS users. Both have the option of installing adblockers.

On iOS you have an even better option: the little “readability mode” button in Safari.

Gmail and Inbox both hang for me on my Chrome on Linux with almost no load. It's funny how tides turn. Initially Gmail was the king of performance.

And their latest interface broke middle-click to open an email in a new tab. One the major advantage of using Gmail in a browser vs in the app, gone. Oddly ctrl-click still works.

Firefox have extensions on mobile, plus ads make websites heavier, and suck more bandwidth

Side note... not related to the same root cause, but related to a similar end user problem... I've been staying in a lot of hotels lately and using a lot of very slow internet connections (not by choice, that's just what is available) and I wish Chrome had some sort of "low bandwidth" mode where it would only allow requests from your current tab, or maybe current window (easily open a new window to control which tabs could use bandwidth). That would make a big difference for us road warriors and nearly everyone when they're on vacation.

For some reason firefox on android removed the ability to install on SD card. My cheap phone doesn't have the space to spare on the internal drive.

What OS do you have in mind? Apparently OSX locks are fair, but the downside is that this may reduce throughput.

Linux locks? I have no idea and would be interested to know.

I suspect that occasionally fair locks would be ideal, but I don't know if they can be implemented efficiently.
