We usually penalize event announcements as not intellectually interesting but since this thread is turning into something more general, I took off the penalty.

The Kansai one was really good, felt more tech focused and had great talks when I went. The Tokyo meetup was more of a mixer last time I attended. Personally didn’t enjoy it as much.

I've not been to the Tokyo meetups, but I certainly enjoyed the HN Kansai meetup. I met some interesting people hacking on (somewhat niche) fun things - game dev, web design, cryptocurrency, etc. Definitely recommend it!
