Foster city real estate is an enigma. Had anecdotally heard from a lot of people that houses close to the bay are sinking very gradually. Nothing seems to affect the prices though :-)

This also reminds me of rent control.
The real problem with rent control is SFs /bizarre/ implementation: it's determined by the age of the house, not the financial position or age of the residents. I know multiple 20-30 year olds earning Bay Area tech salaries who have rent control. Which is insane.
Which suggests that rent control is not about protecting those that need low cost housing. It's also interesting the one-on-one adversarial relationship that rent control creates. What is the goal of rent control? Presumably it's something more beneficial and less tautological than to "control rent".
