A bit suspicious right before the US election, maybe it's under attack. We'll find out soon enough.
Right after WikiLeaks released the last batch of DNC/Podesta/Clinton emails, the most damning ones... Hmm...

#23Their API is down too - started slowing down at 2016-11-07T05:44:52Z and went offline in earnest at 2016-11-07T05:47:37Z. As you can imagine - we have a lot of analytics on this sort of stuff at Zapier. :-) Usually we know about API outages before any official status pages update (besides our own https://status.zapier.com/#app-status ). Ironically Twitter's status page is also down... https://dev.twitter.com/overview…
status.twitter.com redirects to https://status.twitterstat.us/ which presumably is their official status page. Which, by the way, reports that all systems are operational.
That's pretty funny. What use is a status page that's updated that infrequently?

#28Are there any alternatives? It kind of sucks that twitter can just go down and there's really nothing to replace it.

Indeed the DNS seems alright. I am seeing broken routes to their load balancers from all of my testing sites (on opposite sides of the globe).
How can you quickly check DNS? Combination of Who.is / traceroute / ping / nslookup?
