I'm on Sway and Debian. Debian has a separate package for KDE Connect: https://packages.debian.org/trixie/kdeconnect

I've found that installing the kdeconnect package on the desktop and the app on the phone was all that was needed.

You just install it. It works everywhere.

Status: RESOLVED

This trend of auto-closing issues is so upsetting. Can we get rid of it already? This describes an actual issue, and it wouldn't get magically resolved through a lack of actions. I could maybe buy auto-closing bugs that have been stale for 3 years, but 30 days is just ridiculously short. It only serves as makeup for the numbers to appear as if there are not many defects in the software, and it seems to be a common practice in too many projects.

---- EDIT: Turns out this got fixed in the end [1]. Good for this particular case, but the point stands.

I don't think those work between iOS and KDE Connect. I would love to be able to type iMessages on my Linux desktop's computer. If I'm wrong about this not working, someone please let me know, but I've never been able to make messages work.

No, it doesn't, and again, the repository (https://github.com/KDE/kdeconnect-ios) makes that clear and also why.

How is Slackware doing nowadays? Last release was several years ago, but I need a replacement for Win 10 on my PC.

Slackware-current is pretty current. And sbopkg has quite a lot of packages. I run it on my homeserver (and has been for the last..10-15? years or so). Since everything that I host uses docker its easy as pie to keep it running.

ZFS via ZoL etc.

As a daily driver i use PopOs! which is very nice since the've packaged nvidiadrivers etc. and I mainly use it to play games.
