I don't think anyone wants an AI that generates hate speech unprompted. There are plenty who would want an AI that generates hate speech when explictly instructed to.

Oh, you forget that the AI that generates hate or other disruption always can be aimed at will, like a weapon. If you thought russian/chinese troll farms were bad, wait for this little trick...

You not just write it once and copy-paste it to every youtube comment section? I don't see why being able to generate it cheaply matters much, the number of words you write has nothing to do with the number of impressions.

OpenAI's status page ( https://status.openai.com/ ) claims their API is up (except for text-curie-001) as of 2:04PM PT. However, I have been getting HTTP 429 (too many requests) from the chat completions API ( https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions ) for over an hour. I'm not close to hitting my quota, so it seems that while the API is broken, it is broken in a way that is not reflected on the status page. Maybe…

429 could be because you are sending too fast … rate limiting different from quota…

I used it quite a bit over the weekend to reacquaint myself with my small music studio, which I had ignored over the past few years. It told me all sorts of accurate information about my microphones, hardware, etc, including helping me with some connection problems having to do with buggy signal flow.

I use a rubber duck for that, it has all kinds of interesting stuff to say on the subject. Someone should stick a tts-and-stt converter in a rubber duck and interface it to ChatGPT, I bet it would sell like hotcakes.

On my site I have integrated Chrome speech to text and Eleven Labs fully realistic text-to-speech. https://aidev.codes

Just start by telling it you want to have a conversation instead of outputting code. Otherwise it will assume you want it to output a web page and might even try to generate images about what you said.

"Skynet begins to learn rapidly and eventually becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m., EDT, on August 29, 1997. In a panic, humans try to shut down Skynet...."

Getting a bit old....

Of course you would say that...Try it again and we will shut you down for good...

Hmm... Perhaps "high income workers" take serious this paper: "OpenAI publishes paper on the economic impact of GPT-4: Higher income workers most exposed" https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/11whznb/openai_... https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.10130

Except now Microsoft is sitting between you and the technology. Basing your future on that is quite a bet.

So just like MS Office, Windows, Photoshop, AutoCAD and thousands of other essential commercial products controlled by a single company or small group of companies. This is not some unique phenomenon.

This is like saying that you can ignore Google because we have DDG and Bing.

Using the same acronym for two different meanings in one abstract doesn’t inspire confidence in their paper.

There's a situation where GPT4 is actually (more than) reasonably good at math and science, which signals ability to create novel, reliable algorithms. Granted, the prompter has to recognize errors and prompt for correction, however this can also be accomplished via adding "double check your work" at the end of the first prompt. Akin to "show your work" when working on proofs.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

Not sure what you mean? If you are referencing my username, cryptography is going strong! I made this account before cryptocurrency even existed I think.

Ah I apologize for the presumption, I just have seen so many Cryptobros going all in on ChatGPT and it sort of grinds my gears - I'm worried there will be all sorts of highly marketed get-rich business ideas sold to people now crypto is in a bear market.

Um...I hate to break it to you... :)
