If she gets hired by Apple, I hope they don't ruin her too fast.

Read her other blog posts. She's super open source/libre software oriented. I find it a hard sell she would consider working for Apple.

My guess would be she bought the Mac specifically to tackle this project.

When you shrink nodes you can either increase performance, cut power, or go with some mix of the two. TSMC's 5nm is 30% more power efficient OR 15% faster than their 7nm process.

Apple took the power reduction.

There is a world of difference in free time between "having a 9-5 job" and "being in high school", though. In high school, I was lucky enough to not have to do laundry, feed myself, or a variety of other tasks and chores that come along with adulthood. Knowing what to work on, what trends to be aware of, where to present your stuff is something that a modern elite collegiate is intimately familiar with.

Other teens and young adults, not so much. I myself having been one such and friends of other such.

Well, they clearly at least commissioned them from someone else, since they are the ones distributing them.

Intel Macs are literally PCs. The Windows drivers that Apple bundled up for Boot Camp were the same drivers that the respective component manufacturers provide for other PC OEMs to redistribute. No, Macs have a lot of custom components, and the ones with Touch Bar or T2 added even more. Those have Apple developed Windows drivers.

You have to read between the lines here. They make no claims about CPU performance - just integrated GPU performance from Xe (which is a big improvement from previous Iris GPUs.) Some laptops seem to be on sale now, and others were targeting January 26 as the release date. That being said, I do not know if there's an NDA from AMD or if all variations of the chips (i.e. H, U, HX, etc) will be available this month or over time in the next few months.

So I think there's a good chance in the next week or so we'll start seeing benchmarks.
