I feel like there's a systemic issue in modern software that HN is immune to. Confusing terminology, imho. Facebook is a data-silo in this sense: https://www.techtarget.com/searchdatamanagement/definition/d... So the word already has at least two meanings in the context of IT.

The ads should be clearly marked as ads, in my opinion. I hate when social media sites hide ads by making them look like regular posts. It’s a dark pattern.
