For a Linux user, you can already build such distro yourself quite trivially by getting some scripts and applying them on top of bare arch.

Dunno, Ubuntu had a lot of hype back in the day. It just kind of died out when Canonical had to start making money.

But yeah, it's nice to see the Omarchy hype. Especially since it's been marketed from the start as something for developers and not necessarily for your mom or grandparents.

What would be the point of Omarchy Server? I thought the desktop experience was the main selling point...

Running your apps on the same OS you develop on... I mean, you could ask the same question for anything. What's the point? There is no point except someone wanting it..

I think tiling makes much less sense on a laptop and more sense when you use a large display. I had a similar experience initially. I disliked many of the defaults. Definitely disagree. I feel a laptop is the sweet spot for wanting each app to take up exactly half the screen.

Your straw man is rather weak. Would you like to try again? This isn't a distro. Distros build software, maintain packages, fix bugs, support kernel versions. The $8m would have been better spent on giving it to Arch directly than this grifty pretty face.

Not you, it's for those trying to switch from macos(maybe windows too) and needing sensible defaults until they figure out linux distros.
