What did you expect? They're not exactly innovators, are they?

Probably one of AvE's best videos. I was just chatting about the peak Silicon Valley insanity that was Juicero yesterday. That thing was built like a Bugatti. And he's like "why not use a roller instead of a press??".

I love AvE and somehow understand exactly what he's saying whilst simultaneously having no idea what he's saying half the time. Does anyone know if this is some regional slang? Or is AvE just very unique in how he speaks?

It is very Canadian and is full to the brim with references to the Red Green Show, including his sign-off telling you to “keep your stick on the ice”.

I have this kettle, and its selling points are: temperature control, ergonomics, and the steady, controllable flow rate. Using it is pure joy! It reaches the desired temperature before I'm done preparing everything else (throw the beans in the grinder, pre-heat the V60, etc), so it does not matter that it can't draw 3kW.

I have a great temperature control kettle (Sage Smart Kettle) which is both fast (3kW) and reasonably precise, to within a couple of deg C.

I’ll give the Stagg EKG some credit for looking very cool, however.

In Sweden (Schuko), 1.5 mm² wall installations are rated for up to 13 A now, but used to be 10 A. It's the wires in the walls being the bottleneck, not the connectors. Dunno why they up-rated it. Can't imagine the copper is better now than it used to be.

It is possible that the copper really is better. AFAIK, a lot of wiring that is sold today is made of high grade oxygen free copper, which, thanks to improvement in manufacturing processes, is barely more expensive than the lower grade stuff.

But even more important is the insulation. It has been consistently improved since cloth wires.

Reads like the product of a co-marketing deal:

FWIW, I owned a Fellow, until it failed. Now happily replaced with an OXO kettle: 1500W; much better ergonomics, at least for those with larger hands; fewer steam burns; more readable temperature display.

I'm not sure what the point is you're trying to make? I'm sure you're aware that US sockets are 110-120V. The power required by a European kettle would too often trip someone's circuit breaker in the US, especially if any other equipment were also plugged in (you usually want to stick to max 1500 W on a circuit). Clearly the "powerful 1200 W" is in the context of equipment designed for American residential sockets --…

The point is that 1200 W in the context of many of the people reading this is not a lot.

Okay pretty cool but I have to give my two cents for the text. A patina does not enhance flavour, that's basically rancid left-over coffee.

Also the plunger in the aeropress isn't pushed through and STILL compressed in the picture (as shown here). To push it all the way through the cap has to be loosened.

The scans are fascinating though :D
