San Francisco now but originally from Philadelphia. I bet the SF Bay Area probably has the highest concentration of HN readers than any other specific part of the US.

I'd love to see a poll of Bay Area versus non Bay Area, although I bet it would be unsurprising.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Just got back from Melbourne, (Toronto, ON), loved it and will return, and I just kept thinking 'If there was a start-up culture in Melbourne, I'd move there in 2 seconds!' - and now there are 6 responding to the thread, :)

'If there was a start-up culture in Melbourne, I'd move there in 2 seconds!' Whilst it's not huge, it's certainly growing. Silicon Beach is a community pushing technology innovation in Melbourne (and the rest of Australia). You can read a little more about it here: http://melbourne.siliconbeachaustralia.org/about-2/ and here: http://www.rosshill.com.au/article/silicon-beach-melbourne/

Count me in as well. Good to see some people here I know on Twitter, but wasn't aware of on HN.

Melbourne, Australia

I'm in SF, but my sister lives on the Bellarine Peninsula. I've spent about 6 weeks in Australia and love it. If anyone has info about startups hiring in Melbourne or Geelong I'd love to hear about them.

You're in SF and you want to move to Melbourne for a startup? That's the inverse of what I always hear about... ;)
