That is interesting. And it's an AI critique I haven't heard before. Would you consider it possible that the way non-intentionally placed items break the game immersion for you is because they appear in such a way that you think you can interact with them in a certain way, but you can't? Like if there's an extra door in the house you're trying to get into, but that door doesn't really open, then in your mind that bre…
its reasonably the same "reversion to the mean" or "not x, but y" the intentionally placed tree serves no particular in-game job mechanically. it instead points your eyes to the right place when you walk up the path, and then again when you look back down from above. when they're saying everything is intentionally placed, they mean everything, whether it looks important or not. It's all directed to a cohesive core
It sounds like you might be assuming intent where there is little. I suspect if you didn't know a poem was written by an LLM you might ascribe purpose and intent to many aspects - rather like a high-school English language teacher.

And when there’s an ocean of bullshit, it’s a lot harder, which makes the incentive to do good things nearly zero. Scale is very important, here.
Luckily the same AI tools that are generating the content can be used to build better tailored discriminators for it as well. If I can define what it is I dislike about an essay, video, etc., and give it to an LLM, it can tell me whether a piece I present to it is worthwhile to consume according to my standards. This even applies to things the LLM can't generate things for that meet the same standard for its programm…
Assuming that the LLM search will be meaningfully better at cutting through bullshit than the generating model was at avoiding creating it is, charitably, dubious. Assuming that it won’t be every bit as gamable as Google results is as or more dubious.

Tbh, most people actually don't know how to microwave. The typical microwave users just trys to "one-shot" it by punching in a time and using high heat. Proper microwaving is what gave rise to the entire concept of "fast casual" restaurants, famously AppleBees (or "club B's" in the late night focus iterations!) Complex entrees that could be partially cooked and frozen. Then rapidly microwaved on a custom program that…
I have a collection of vintage microwave cookbooks and they get real fancy, with techniques like wrapping the thin parts of fish with aluminum foil so they don't burn. Volume 5 had a full Thanksgiving dinner. I think the goal was to sell more microwaves to people who weren't sure what they could do. Fascinating stuff. I have used none of those recipes. The microwave is for making cold pizza 10% more palatable (or 80%…
Of course you do! Please take the time to upload and share that's an amazingly niche knowledge pocket.

#155They all look like video games. I guess Unreal Engine is used to create synthetic data for training.

#156I struggle with these world models from the perspective of video games (so this post is a particular perspective). I'm not a game developer myself, but some of my favorite games carry a deep sense of intentionality. For instance, there is typically not a single item misplaced in a FromSoftware game (or, for instance, Lies of P -- more recently). Almost every object is placed intentionally. Games which lack this inten…

Huge percentage of AI spend is on this with the gamble people won’t care if it’s less humane they’ll consume it anyway.

The model is out here: https://huggingface.co/Efficient-Large-Model/SANA-Video_2B_7...
Is it the same model? The naming is confusing but my understanding is the WM version is not the same as the Video, though I'm sure they are highly related.

Games. Build campaigns in hours instead of months. Make it possible for users to create their own campaigns, move the action to different game worlds - 'gimme Mario Kart in the ${favourite_game} world', etc.
Yeah, but is this really that great? Are these models going to remember the town you wandered through on your session yesterday and want to return to? Imagine playing Read Dead Redemption 2 and you attempt to ride your horse from Saint Denis to Valentine and Valentine no longer exists, or is a completely different town located half a mile off from where it was originally. I just don't see how this would work...
