I don't think I'd accept anything worse than McDonald's if they paid me to eat it.
McDonald’s already is that product. It costs 1/4th as much as a restaurant burger. And half the time it’s just as good.

#152If AI output is 60% as good as a person, but costs 1/1000th the price... what decision maker is going to justify paying 1000x more for 40% more quality? We're really in for it. What if there was a cheeseburger that was 50% as good as McDonalds but was only a nickel? That'd be real bad for the McD's share price.

Really depends on the type of output. For content marketing that most people are just going to skim over anyway (aka is just going to be used for blogspam/content farming, which is what it sounds like the linked writer was doing for this cli…

What if a flight only cost a nickel, but there was a 40% chance it blew up? Not all errors are equal. Sometimes 99% as good isn't even close to good enough. But, yes, for most things 60% for 1/100th the price, is going to cut it.

If a team of five people with five "assistants" does the things that previously took a team of ten people, that means that five of these people got replaced by automation.
Oh no, 5 people will be freed from the shackles of a bullshit job, the horror.

IMO, the quality is demonstrably poor at present, I don't think any dev worth their salt is going to be concerned when at best, it's only what people could have done with boilerplate tooling twenty years ago, but even that was superior.
It's 1000s of times better comprared to what we had a year ago. Imagine what we'll have in 3,5,10 years.

#157So this person lost his job to an AI because it's way cheaper and slightly worse. Why not hire chatgpt yourself? Instead of resigning because of chatgpt, use it for your advantage. Instead of taking 10 clients, take 100 at 10x less your usual price. You literally have the cheapest and best sidekick money can buy. The industrial revolution ended a lot of jobs but also started new ones. Like inventing, managing and mai…

We can only hope that when this day comes, we end up with fully automated gay space communism. But the reality will probably be that plumbers and builders become the next tech bros telling us to learn tiling. Just go with the flow I guess. If tech becomes automated, move to the next thing.
what happens to the wages of plumbers and electricians when 200 million people start retraining to be them?
