I forget sometimes how good it really is at blocking. I had blocked certain things long ago and when I eventually see the original accidentally somewhere else I am shocked by the annoyances.

I agree. How do we fight back?

I think the only real way is to self-host, and rebuild a kind of "craftsman movement" of code and system-administration.

With sourcegraph, I am able to execute language context aware searches. It goes far beyond just grep-like matching and regular expressions. This page has more details: https://docs.sourcegraph.com/code_search/reference/language.

There are other awesome features in sourcegraph, for example searching diffs, searching within specific branch or tag.

Literally turned off uBlock for something and hopped over to GitHub and it was full of so much useless nonsense and I don't even follow a lot of people.
