What exactly is the point of intentionally misinterpreting what someone said just to make a semantic and pedantic argument that adds nothing because everyone already knew what the person said?

How am I misinterpreting anything ? He said his tv was not smart because he did not connect it to the internet. To me, it means that the tv is like they used to be, but if it is connected to the internet it becomes a smart tv. But that is not the case at all. It can still be buggy software, it could still have a bluetooth beacon that could allow it to be infected by a virus, it could also still show offline ads. Calling that a dumb tv is wrong.

It's wilfull. They havecto live ib denial, or they don't have a job. I know someone who started a job at a tobacco company. He went from 'of course they cause cancer, you're an idiot if you smoke' to 'everybody dies from something, it's not that bad, the media are against us, it's inconclusive'. He still won't smoke, though.

I’ve noticed the same with those who work for weapons manufacturers. The perspective changes a lot when the money is good or the mortgage is large.

TVs in China already got around this by displaying ads even when not internet connected.

The kindle is a bit like this but doesn’t even need power. I’d love to have my kindles keep their page open when not in use.

What the fuck. I remember the "Please drink a verification can" joke that was floating around a few years back. Didn't think we'd be here so soon. Can you just use an old headphone with an audio slider and mute the ad that way? Either way, Spotify is now on my list of nope services.

Is this that different to radio? At least you can choose the song and not listen to radio DJs inane crap.

So if I’m using a Samsung TV as a monitor and working on sensitive or classified material the damn thing is taking screenshots and uploading them? Yikes
