I really like LM Studio, but this direction of cloud and trust. I think you've totally blown it with a lot of people, because now they'll be forced to remember another million times they've heard a company say the same kind of thing; 'Zero Data Retention' and 'never training on your data'. I had a quick browse through your site, but I could not see where you are based, but I get whiffs of more American 'trust me, bro…
What are your concerns? LM studio is the opposite of cloud its for running locally?

It literally is, but people don’t use LLMs to interact with their computers they use touch screens or mouse and a keyboard. This is why I think it will be the platform owners who end up winning - if iPhone / Mac / iPad ship with a good enough local model that can directly interact with the OS and apps and the web people might actually start talking to their computers.
A portion of the leading edge is already talking to their computers. First it was wiring up Wispr to your agent, now you can just enable voice mode in Claude. That paradigm shift just hasn't reached the mainstream yet.
Most people can barely type or operate a computer, so I think it will be a boon to many folks to have a voice/agent interface to their computing. I agree that a local model that's "good enough" will suffice for most general tasks. There's no need to call Mythos to "add cheese to the shopping list" or "summarize today's emails". Harder tasks will call out to stronger models, but many people just won't need that power.
I suspect all the platforms are keenly aware of this, and Apple will drop Siri v2 or whatever when they're satisfied with their UX and more confident the agent won't go off the rails.

Done. You have 2/3rds of Discord or Slack solved as just an insignificant fraction of my Private Cloud Project I just shared. Not interested in video or voice right now, it's easy to solve though. Also you'd have to solve for the mobile apps.
Edit: If you keep checking back, I'll have a video showing off that application. It's a bit beefy to just get up and running.

No? Vibecoders talk about how they don't look at the code, how an IDE is unnecessary, loops, etc. I use ghostty despite knowing mitchellh used AI to build it, because I know he's not vibe coding it. I don't use any Anthropic software for the exact opposite reason.

Few thoughts. * locked to a single dir, so no system wide access. * no local web search, can be fixed ddg or local mcp. * no ssh, I want to have it ssh into my server and do the work. * doesnt show the model being loaded, needs a bar/% counter. * Can you drag/drop documents in the work dirs, or only + add them? I love lm-studio, so cant wait to see how this…
