I realize this is totally off-topic, but has anyone else noticed how wide-stanced all of the presenters have been? Like your legs don’t stand that far apart normally; the announcer right now seems to literally need to constantly shift her legs to keep her standing stance so wide. I’ve noticed this a couple of other places too; is some body coach teaching the weirdest crap out in California right now?

I've noticed it too. It seems like they've been all coached to have a "power stance" as they present.

The Power Stance - lots of UK politicians using it too.

It’s a precaution due to the earth-shattering announcements. ;)

Huh, M1 ultra is ~2x M1 Max, so: 16 + 4 cores and 128GB RAM And it seems that Apple aren't currently planning on making a bigger chip for now. While that's very fast, I have to say I'm kinda surprised they haven't gone for a bigger and/or modular option. I guess it is pretty Apple to go all-in on a single monolithic design paradigm. EDIT: Oh damn "Just one more product to go: the Mac Pro". I take back what I said. Th…

M1 OMEGA GIGA is in the works.

Will the M1 Ultra GPU be able to compete with high-end discreet GPUs?

Apparently they compared it with a 3060TI. It's not a 3080, but still nothing to sneeze at.

I'd wait and see even on that comparison.

While a lot of Apple's M1 claims have lived up to scrutiny, their GPUs ones are limited to very specific test cases that benefit from Apple's architecture.

So will it hit 3060TI levels on some stuff? Yeah, likely, it will. But that doesn't mean it will be hitting those levels across the board and only independent testing will give us an accurate picture.

The pace at which apple is pumping out new silicon is astounding. It’s hard to imagine anyone competing with them pound for pound, especially in the flops per watt game. I still can’t get over the fanless MacBook pros and the battery life. I actually hope somebody is challenged enough by this to really push for competition as this level of performance asymmetry will ultimately result in further pricing asymmetry as c…

It’s all fun and games until Taiwan is invaded, what then? Back to Intel chips?
