A large organic hass avocado is between $2 and $4. You need at least half of one to make good avocado toast. If the loaf of bread cost you $5, and makes 20 slices, that's a base cost of $2.25.

Little is less appetizing than a half-used avocado. Might as well make two slices, so it doesn't go to waste. A friend of mine turned me on to fried avocado. Much better than avocado toast, if you aren't inclined to count calories from fat...
