So? The point is people can if they want too. Even if only w small portion do, it's better than having closed sources code.

IMO, my comment about covering the camera on your device is purely self-defense because evil corp can't be trusted. how you can twist my self-defense suggestion as defending evil corp's decision to nefariously use the webcam is some serious bending of logic

No idea mate but what I've noticed is that when I had the facebook app installed it used to completely trash my battery on every android device I tried it on while running in the background. Imo there must be some kind of processing that they are doing locally.
Would energizing the camera chip the entire time you are using FB apps not explain the battery drain by itself?
