Difference is, right wing governments seem to recover much more easily than left wing ones. The other thing that needs to be understood is that Venezuela has decided to become a socialist country. When that happens, it is normal that the GDP decreases as the economy reorganizes itself. But as income is shifted from the rich to the rest of society, most of the population will benefit, even if there is no real GDP growth.

If the CIA had staged a coup Chavez would have been killed when he was captured. They're not amateurs.

I get that. I just don't understand how that informs our response to the situation. Both Brexit and Syria are terrible situations.
