Let's see if you make it to the end. I usually have quite a bit of a video downloaded after a few minutes, to the point where I can unplug my network and still watch for a few minutes.

#134Look at the charts on downdetector homepage - multiple major sites all got hit by something simultaneously and are all trending back down almost identically.
Might be embedded YouTube Videos not working in a lot of cases. The correlation is there but the numbers are at least two magnitudes lower on those other services.
Netflix graph is following the same trend as sites like Spotify though?

#135Does anyone want to try to calculate how much money google is losing every second YouTube is down? It must be astronomical, on the order of Amazon.
As a YouTube Premium user I will be supporting them through this tough time.

More users / higher loads due to people being stuck inside?
edit: I assumed you meant more in general over the past weeks or months, not right now - if that's the case.
But those are indeed some interesting patterns, that so many websites are getting the same spikes.

I noticed that the mobile UI was updated today. I'm guessing that it's a botched rollout of some bigger changes

What on Earth are you on about
GCP doesn't consider it to be an "outage" if you are able to access a website (e.g "youtube.com") and get a 200 OK response. So, when you go to the status page for the cloud service, it will show green checkmarks, meaning everything is ok.
But, the video you are trying to watch won't load, and will throw a 500 error. But this isn't considered downtime, for them.

given that the outage affects redirector.googlevideo.com and youtube.com/get_video_info, but as you say, not the f3---.googlevideo.com domains serving the actual streams, i suspect they have problems with the database storing where streams are actually hosted.

I too was able to watch a 2.5 hour video to completion, while not being able to load new videos during or after that.
