T-mobile has a $30 prepaid plan that looks pretty good (100 minutes talk, unlimited text and "unlimited" [throttled after 5gb] data).

I don't know what you use that space for, but you could store things in the cloud. Google Music is great for this. You could delete things once you are done with them.

If "expansion" is your most important feature, then this isn't the phone for you.

If you're still in the U.S., just order it. I bought my old nexus here and it works just fine in Europe and South America. Just need to pop out the SIM card. If it works on t-mobile, it basically works anywhere.

If it's anything like the 2013 Nexus 7, it'll be a micro SIM.
