I think the idea behind the folding form factor is that you don't have to lug it around, since it's in the same shape as a regular phone whenever you're not using it (and I don't think people consider having a phone in their pocket "lugging it around").

Fail? They are launching the Fold 5 in a couple months now. I'm still on the 3, I've had it for about 1.5 years and I use it every day. I love it, especially with the pressure sensitive pen. It's still working great, so I'll probably wait for the fold 6 or 7.

I have the fold 2 and I absolutely love it, been using it almost nonstop for a few years. When the 5 comes out I'll replace the 2 for it. The 2 is just showing some wear at the bend point on the screen, the flip I've replaced the protector once but it went smoothly at the Samsung store.

I think the google/nexus/pixel fold looks nice, but the pixel reliability track record has been pretty grim, so maybe I'll give it an iteration or.... Nine before trying it out.

For some of us that are not in the US, this product doesn't even exist. 2023 and still somehow the Pixel doesn't sell in several countries in the EU.

My reaction too. I could buy a new Galaxy Tab S7 FE tablet and a refurbished MacBook Pro for that price!

They haven't figured anything. Their flagship pixels phones always had bottom of the barrel components. Their goal is to cut costs. Pixels at manufacturer cost is better than samsungs for every employee every year. And their employees want foldables. Simple as that.

it's almost like pixels are designed by AI were all the feedback it have is what youtube reviewers will praise/complain after unboxing a free phone and nothing else. One component that was always bottom of the barrel is modem, because well, no reviewer reviews modems.

gladly not CISO for that org that had a bunch of pixels, but last Pro models had a modem that would heat up to the point of safety shutdown after 30min video calls. Of course there would be no feedback on the OS. Android would just show no data signal with full 4G bars and users would have no idea what was happening. and earlier this year had FOUR remote exploits. In a modem. remote exploits. just marvelous. Whole org had to drop to 3G... i mean, whoever was lucky to be out of the US. Those in 3G-less US were stuck with wifi phones, because they also announced it right before their march update, which only arrived in april. pixels are great.

Yes, I bought an iPhone 4 and then upgraded to iPhone 6 which had a larger screen.

I had a 55' TV and I also bought an 85' TV.

I had a 24' monitor. I also bought a 34' monitor

Not a difficult concept to grasp

One could argue the same about every product. 1000$ for an iPhone? To do what chat and watch videos?

A translation service from Swedish to German has no practical value to me. But, I don't go on the internet dissing Google for providing that service to people who find it useful

You answered your question, more real estate. The price is not appealing but to me any smartphone above 300$ is unappealing.
