I'm using Fedora, haven't had any sleep problems. If you're using GNOME or KDE, they are notorious for hijacking ACPI handling. Try "# systemctl suspend" to rule out it being Linux's fault.

USB-C is USB3, not USB4. And every X-series Thinkpad has at least two, as far as I know.
In the future USB4 will replace USB-C, so I wrote about both current and future cases. My E495 has only one and it's rather annoying (since it's also used for charging).

Not sure on your exact requirements, but I did the opposite. High end desktop, dual boots to PC and Linux. Then got the cheapest macbook air. Reduced the apple tax this way. Got tons of performance for cheap, check out latest AMD CPUs.

dosdudes Tool is for running macOS on Apple Hardware That is unsupported (e.g. too old). Still not that hard, check out /r/hackintosh. And be prepared to swap your WiFi card, intel cards are unsupported, so are nvidia graphics.

Typically for corporate use you would pick a Lenovo model with next business day onsite warranty. So in case it breaks, somebody will come over to fix it. (This is why the components are easy to replace in those laptops)
Corporation that size isn't going to put up with Linux on the desktop if they're not FAANG and fuck deving on Windows.
Anyway, Lenovo care service (whatever its called) costs about $400-500 for three years and they send a technician to your place within 24 hours.
We have a fleet of Macs and thinkpads and the thinkpads last more and cost less in total.

I have this on my P52 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107GLM [Quadro P2000 Mobile] It's enough for most games. However buying a thinkpad for gaming is like buying a Tank to do groceries.
+1 I did some decent Linux gaming on my T450 -- moderate settings and framerates -- but ultimately they're work laptops.

I don't know what people do with laptops with soldered-on Disk space is so important these days with Docker, node_modules, venv, bazel, etc. where every directory basically has its own OS. We all should have >10TB on laptops.
