That's literally not how the word "literally" works.

That’s literally how the English language works. It literally evolves

It doesn't proliferate new forms without selection, that's not how evolution works.

(Heh, I see "proliferate" itself is a back-formation.)

"The low hanging fruit is extremely abundant, for those who are able and willing to find it." Ok fella. Its so abundant right. So why not go ahead, start your own firm and profit from this opportunity, that according to you exists? lol.

I'm using LLM tools to do quite a lot of things, and am very happy with the results in my business. So yeah, I am indeed running my own firm and profiting from this opportunity.

There's a point at which you need to actually specifically refer to what low-hanging fruit there is, "trust me bro" and "do your own research" shows you either don't know or don't have conviction in what you're saying

Was this not specific enough, from my previous comment?

> For example, I run a database of information that needs constant updating. I set up automated fact checking (with a human looped in), that enables nearly live updates, which would be incredibly expensive without an LLM. There are so many projects, big and small, just like that one, that are being created right now.

There are no error bars, no confidence intervals. Just a one trick pony that pastes tokens together to give you something that may look good to many people. Sure there are many good use cases, but there are still enough non-patchable and indeterminable in size holes in the watering pail to limit its effectiveness.

Is there any error bar or confidence intervals in stackoverflow answers?

Stackoverflow is not being elevated to billion dollar valuations.

Most of us believed that crypto currencies were trash. Look how valuable its now . LLMs are a million times better than Crypto currencies.

"LLM's are the next crypto!" isn't the glowing endorsement you seem to think it is.

Such a world we are in. Nothing can be predicted with certainty.

LLMs will be a million times more valuable than crypto shit in my opinion.

The answer is so easy to solve. Do I find value in paying 20 dollars a month for ChatGPT? Yes. Do others? As far as I can see, yes. Most people are happy with the value. Are AI companies profitable if they stop R&D? Yes. Where’s the skepticism coming from?

I'd actually be content knowing $20 a month covers inference and makes them a decent profit, but I have my doubts. If there's proof out there that it does, I haven't found it yet. > Are AI companies profitable if they stop R&D? Yes. By what metrics? Where's the data?

We're profitable on inference. If we didn't pay for training, we'd be a very profitable company

This statement is probably all we're going to get out of a private company that's a long way from making a profit. Personally, I'd like to see data, because I don't really trust whatever twisted definition of "profitable" Altman prefers. Until then I'll take advantage of the $20 price tag, but remain skeptical about its sustainability.

Lets assume that it is not profitable now because inference is too costly. Do you think making inference 20% more efficient would make it profitable? Or 60%?

Fella youre not saying anything specific enough. Seriously, its kinda annoying to read these posts again and again.

Show me something, preferably with the financials to support it!
