I also recently tripped something at LinkedIn and now it asks for me to scan a QR code with a mobile device in order to upload ID to prove the identity of my two decade-old account that has a secure password + 2FA.

Given that I don’t seriously use LinkedIn (I just use it to scope out other people), I’ve just permanently stopped using it at all.

They changed their TOS recently to allow calling LGBT people "mentally ill" or saying racist slurs in an attempt to please the bigoted GOP.

This was at least an year ago, maybe two.

They've been following their new TOS, but only when Trump became the president were they able to write down the TOS without fear of repercussion.

All the most successful political actors are able to selectively control the flow of information. They don't put their beliefs in the TOS until doing so confers an advantage to them. Once it does, they do. The TOS still doesn't contain all their rules - only the ones that are advantageous for them to announce publicly.

Extremism is bad, no matter if it left or right-sided. I have turned away from the left with a huge amount of disgust since I started to realize how hatred is rampant on both sides. Wanting someone dead, and saying so, it a warning sign. Are we supposed to go back to "an eye for an eye"? I for one are happy this "staple" is a thing from the past. Cheering for it coming back is horryfing behaviour.

Extremism is the historical norm. Democracy was created as a nicer alternative to extremism. Everyone prefers democracy to extremism. If democracy is destroyed, we go back to extremism. Simple as.

Accountability sinks are a huge issue with large corporations. The people you can reach are not allowed to act due to policies and processes, and the people setting the policies are not reachable to a regular customer - nor would they change the policies just to accommodate one out of their millions of users

I’ve been to some restaurants that have a QR code to their own website but I get blocked by their Cloudflare settings for some reason. So even a proper website doesn’t avoid issues.

Yea, I don’t use any website that requires a captcha or any other such nonsense. A restaurant won’t lose me as a customer over that, if I am already inside, provided they can bring me a regular menu. So far that’s never been a problem.
