Apple is firing on all cylinders. What is hard to appreciate is just how fast they are growing even though they are already such a big company. Can you imagine Microsoft/IBM/Oracle growing profit 125% in a year company wide when they are already as big as they are now? Most companies that get this big can't keep growing at this kind of rate. Yet, they still have a lot of room to grow in different markets - TV, PC, Mo…

What totally blew me away was revenue moving from $15.7b to $28.6b.

This is a company that was near death 15 years ago and is now within a hair of being the most valuable company in the world.

Well, IBM isn't on markets that grow. Smartphones are obviously really hot right now, even the 'losing' players are growing. By leading the growing markets they can cut the biggest slice of the pie.

Yeah, but you could say the same thing about Apple if it had stuck to making only Macs. Also, Apple is to a great degree responsible for making some of the markets in hot. Thus the comparison is still valid

I saw that - the revenue projection for next quarter is $3.5b less than revenue for this quarter. I don't understand this. Are there any rules for making accurate revenue projections?

I'm sure not going to buy an iPhone or iPad right now, given the heavily-rumored launch of the next-gen models in late Q3. That could be why they're sandbagging the revenue projections.

There's never a bad time to buy an Apple product since the resale value is so high.

Please...take your trolling elsewhere.

Please explain how I'm trolling. aforty said that there was nothing you could do but admire Apple, I have a different yet valid reaction.

You do realize that the actions Apple takes are what is responsible for its success?

did their employees all get a pay raise? are the manufacturing workers adequately compensated?

Apple hasn't been in the top 100 companies to work for in the past five years (probably goes back further), so... no.

Several friends of mine confirm this: they're not treated very well nor recognized, they work 70 hours a week, but they love it.

Obviously, it's not for everyone, you need to love the company to work there.

20.34 million iPhones in the quarter comes out to about 225,000 iPhones sold per day. Google recently announced 500,000 Android "activations' Android per day. So Android still has the market share advantage?

Not just "has": "increases". It was 500,000 a month ago, it's 550,000 today. The iPhone simply can't keep up, it's basic math.

Not to take away any credit from Apple, but who seriously thought that the iPhone on Verizon would stop Android's advance despite these numbers?

More importantly, how do you like your first Mac?

Some things I really like and some I really hate. Overall though I like it (Macbook Pro 13" base model - no upgrades). I don't know why but I thought it would load applications faster than it does. Though, the overpowered Dell I bought last December is even slower. Why do I have this feeling my Mac should load applications faster? I don't know. I don't like traversing the file system in the Mac. Perhaps its familiari…

> I like that Macs are true multi-user operating systems. I can separate work and leisure better that way.

I've heard this a couple of times in the last days, and it has left me wondering, in what ways isn't Windows a "true" multi-user system?

From what I've read, Apple has never participated in those "top workplace" surveys, so saying they've never made the top 100 is a useless statement at best.

glassdoor.com satisfaction surveys place them somewhere between Intel and Google, but a lot of the reviews come from retail employees. I'd be curious to see what the average score is for corporate employees.
