It's called Electron and it shouldn't have been used for building desktop apps in the first place. When you compare Winamp 2.x with Spotify, you realize how slow software is today.

When you compare Winamp2 with Deezer, you realize that you can add 800MB of bloat to an MP3 player :( Most of it is just Electron, though.

This is one of the reasons why Windows drives me bonkers— all the interesting settings seem to be locked in disused basement lavatories. See also changing capslock to control.

My windows experience is as infrequent and as brief as I have been able to make it, but AFAIK editing registry keys + reboot is the only way to do it without third-party software.

Thanks for the AHK tip. The programs I usually find look like hastily-constructed malware on a dodgy sourceforge link & always make me feel real :-| about installing them on a fresh box.
