Seriously, I live three hours away from Atlanta and have a 300GB cap. Fills quickly with multiple people in the same household. And don't even start on the misc charges I've had. I was just charged for a tv set top box that was delivered to my house a few days ago, never asked for it!

I applaud Fiber for forcing the competition to change. But this is far from any reason for me to consider comcast if alternatives are available.

Google won..this was google's plan all along.... pose as a threat to the major teleco's, and force them to either get w/ the program and improve broadband speeds or don't and let them take of the broadband business. Though I still think comcast is evil, it will definitely move us towards an America where every home can receive Fiber if they desire.

It's called "fiber to the press release". And it's so disappointing so many "tech experts" seem to fall for it. but I guess that's what most tech experts do - live for the next press release and rumor[1]. I wonder what's the article he'll write when he finds out Google plans 10Gbit/s Internet [2].

Also this "crushing" service costs 6x more than Google Fiber, so I doubt too many regular users would pay for it, if any.

Agreed. Also "twice" isn't really impressive in most technology. If it was an order of magnitude then "crush" might be more appropriate to use here.

For Comcast which has the worst ISP reputation it can be impressive. As long as they'll actually roll it out everywhere for prices below $100.

Which they won't. It's $400.

It seems unlikely that Comcast's 2GB/s service in Atlanta will be anywhere near $400.
