#12Should be pretty easy for the Admissions office to figure out which student this is. The ad was posted in Craigslist Pittsburgh, the poster offered to meet in person, and only 992 applicants had been accepted at the time of the ad posting. How many applicants could have possibly been accepted within a reasonable driving distance of Pittsburgh?

#13Pretty effective trolling. Obviously no one would ever pay to not go to Harvard undergrad. Even for the rich and lazy (only plausible explanation) it's not an experience to be missed.

Craigslist is a wasteland of incredibly obvious, too good to be true scams. I'm still waiting to hear back from all those ladies who want all that NSA sex, and that guy in Rome that wanted to swap houses.

I agree it's likely a fake. But even if not, I don't see that it's any more immoral than usual. In the Real World (tm), if you have money, you hire people to do the work you don't want to do (or have time for), but nevertheless obtains something you want. Basically, you're extending your power through the bodies of other people.

The 992 accepted applications were for 2018 while the ad is for this fall.

#18On a related note, 10 years ago, I was asked to go to MIT and take a math exam instead of a student. Obviously, I said no, but I did not expect an MIT student to do that. He was more of the business type though.
