There is a bigger problem, which is the governmental encouragement of software and hardware products with implicitly low security, spyware, and even backdoors. Google and Cloudflare are prime examples of vendors peddling such products. As in case in point, if the security on Android had been any good, then GrapheneOS wouldn't need to exist. We even have a governmental institution (NSA) dedicated to making software weaker rather than stronger.
